Karnataka cops finally nab both of rowdy Naga's wives

Synopsis

Rowdy Nagaraj alias Naga was arrested a few weeks ago in Vellore He has been charged with money laundering and extortion Both of his wives had gone absconding after the police raided their residence

Wives of arrested Rowdy Nagaraj alias Rowdy Naga, who were absconding, have finally been nabbed by the city police, on Sunday. Lakshmi, a former BBMP corporator and Pushpa were picked up from their relatives' house and were interrogated by Hennur police for hours. However, they have not been arrested. They are likely to be summoned on Monday, too.

The wives went missing after the police raided their house at Srirampura, in April. They were hiding in pilgrimage centres - Tirupathi and Dharmasthala - it is said. The police who were tracking them were tipped off that they were also staying at their relatives' places and based on the clue, the police arrested them, on Sunday. They were interrogated for Naga's role in money laundering, reports Kannada Prabha. Hennur police are expected to investigate them on Monday.

Meanwhile, the police custody of Rowdy Naga was extended till May 25. His custody ended on May 22 and the police had brought him to the court to seek body warrant. The court has now granted him three more days of custody. Apparently upset over this, Rowdy Naga was seen sobbing in the court hall. It is learnt that Kengeri and Hennur police are vying to get the custody of Rowdy Naga as more (at least three) cases have been against Rowdy Naga with the Kengeri police.

According to Kengeri police, Rowdy Naga and his associates in their bid to take advantage of the demonetisation drive would spread the word around that they allegedly would help in exchanging the scrapped notes. One of his associates got wind of the rumour that mobile dealer Kalyan and realtors Chandrakumar and Muniraju were looking for a "way out" to exchange their old notes. They were approached by Rowdy Naga and his aides. But, after collecting the old notes, Naga and his associates threatened and assaulted the "targets" with dire consequences and allegedly took away their money. A complaint in this regard has been lodged with Kengeri police.

It may be recalled here that Rowdy Naga also a former BBMP corporator went missing after the police raided his house on April 14. The police seized crores of demonetised notes from his house. After trailing him for over a month, he was arrested by the city police at Vellore in Chennai. The police have also arrested his sons Gandhi and Shastri.
