Now pregnant, raped minor girl's family boycotted by community leaders

Synopsis

The Dargah Committee of Bidar has boycotted the family of a minor girl who was raped forced to marry him Afer the girl became pregnant he threw her out of the house A case in this regard was filed by the girl's family with the police, following which the family has been boycotted

In a shocking incident, the Dargah Committee of Bidar has boycotted the family of a minor girl who was raped forced to marry him and then thrown out of the house at Humnabad taluk in Birad district.

The shameful incident has taken place at Hallikhed B village. Instead of punishing the rapist, the minor victim and her family is being tortured and has been boycotted from the community. Girl's family has booked a case against the rapist.

The reports say that the community leaders are forcing the family to withdraw the complaint. But as the family refused to do so and is demanding justice, the Dargah Committee has been boycotted since twenty days.

The accused is named as Akram Sha, who had threatened to release the girl's photographs on the social media after raping her. Keeping the photos as his weapon, he forcibly got married to the girl at the Dargah Committee, despite the parents not attending the wedding. However, after six months Akram saw that she was pregnant and then he gave the reason that she does not know to cook and has thrown her out of the house, it is alleged.

Akram and those who helped to get him married were booked under POCSO, four months ago after he raped impregnated the minor girl. However only Akram was arrested, and others are roaming free.

Moulali has been accused of forcibly getting the document signed by the girl's parents and have boycotted them from the village.

This is shocking as not only there is no safety to girls but even to victims. The way rape victims are being treated in India (in most cases) is absolutely disheartening. Usually, they are made the target and given a feeling that there must be something wrong from their side. Even to this day after Nirbhaya and many minor girls who have lost their lives due to the brutal attack on their bodies many others are suffering physically as well as mentally because of rape and the aftermath.

In this case, the minor was forced to marry, and after she became pregnant, the man throws her out of the house. Still, the community leaders are taking action against the victim and her family instead of taking the accused to the task.

Till the time these men are not declared guilty and stern action taken against them, the attitude of getting away after the crime will be there.

Thus the leaders should act responsibly, and if they are fuelling hatred and making the lives of women miserable, action should be taken against them too.
