Residents of over 60 slum houses constructed illegally encroaching upon Subrahmanyapura tank area have been issued evacuation notice by BBMP to vacate the place within 48 hours, reports Kannada Prabha. The officials of tank division have visited the houses and issued notices.
The sudden move has left the residents in lurch as they have very little time to shift. Around 60 houses are illegally constructed around the tank area. On Wednesday, 30 families were issued notices to vacate within two days.
BBMP is spending Rs 3 crore to develop Subrahmanyapura tank. Water has been drained out and developmental works have been taken up. Hence the encroachers have been issued notices to clear the place. Actually, the Slum Clearance Board has constructed flats for the slum residents nearby but the residents have refused to go, instead have build houses around the tank. Hence issuing notice was inevitable, said a BBMP official.
