Noise, CM Siddaramaiah's achievements annoyed Mysuru college students

The noise from CM Siddaramaiah's Mysuru celebrations disrupted college students who were preparing for their UG and PG exams.  The venue, which was very close to the examination halls blared music from 9 am and the heavy police presence led to a traffic jam.  Many students reached late for their exams and those at the hall found it difficult to write their exams. 

For Mysuru college students, June 3 was a D-Day.  They entered Maharaja’s College and the Physical Education Department of the University of Mysore feeling tense about their UG and PG exams. They were scattered around the campus, trying to memorise everything but the incoming noise interrupted their last minute revisions. The ruling party’s celebration of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s four year rule in the state didn’t allow them to study, much less write their exam.

Students came prepared to write their exams but the noise from Maharaja College grounds, just a few metres away, disrupted the silence at their examination hall. Students had to write closing their ears and some found it very difficult to even reach the college because of the police presence in the area. Many came late to the hall because of the traffic jam.

The New Indian Express quoted one student as saying, “The university should also be blamed for allowing the event to take place during exams.”However, college authorities said they tried their best to keep the noise levels down. The music from the venue blared from the speakers at 9 am even before the celebrations could begin.

Authorities requested those at the venue to reduce the volume but their effort was in vain. Until the end, the college authorities didn’t anticipate the noise and disturbance it would cause to the students. University of Mysore In-charge vice-chancellor Prof Dayanand Mane didn’t speak to the media when asked for a comment.

The Congress party celebrated its four year rule in Karnataka in CM Siddaramaiah's home turf, Mysuru. During his speech, the Chief Minister said his government is considering to provide milk for five days under the Ksheera Bhagya scheme.
