IIT-JEE advanced results are out and two city toppers have made the city proud. Considered to be the toughest examination in the country, close to 1.7 lakh students have fought for 11,000 seats in 23 IITs and IMS across the country.  According to inside sources, this year, for the third time, the joint seat allocation authority will conduct 7 rounds of admission to ensure that every single seat in all the IITs are filled.

Among the hard-working few who made it to the top were two city boys:

Anirudh S, who ranked 131: A brilliant student, he held Rank 3 in Engineering and Rank 5 in B.Pharma/D.Pharma-CET. He aced the JEE Advanced exams too. Ranking 273 in JEE-Mains, he was one of the city toppers. Speaking about his journey, he said, "I was taught the fundamentals very well. My teachers helped me a lot in clearing various exams and Olympiads. At BASE, I was always focused and they trained me in such a way that I was thorough with everything. Continuous mock tests and exams were helpful."

His mentors were his biggest support. But they, instead credit him for all the hard work. His mentors said that he worked relentlessly for two years and made sure that he emerged with flying colours.

Ninad Hemanth Huilgol, who ranked 217: One of the city toppers in the JEE-Mains, he scored AIR 54. He has also made the city proud for his rank at the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) (Young Scientist Incentive Plan – YSIP), where he ranked All-India eighth. Speaking about his journey, he said, "I would typically study for about two hours each day. I would study a particular topic until I understood the concept well. The practice tests were very useful to identify my weaknesses and take corrective action. I am indebted to the teachers at BASE. They would explain the concepts excellently and would clarify all our doubts with their expertise.” However, Ninad is more keen on research and development, unlike other toppers who want to be engineers. “I want to head towards research. I want to become a scientist one day. My father is a project engineer and my mother, being a teacher in a university, helped me and guided me though every move," he said.
