Maharani College students complain against abusive superintendent to Women’s Commission

MBA students complain of inappropriate behaviour, threatening and abusive nature of superintendent Women’s Commission chairperson Nagalakshmi Bai visited the college and investigated Collegiate Education Commissioner to take action against the superintendent

The prestigious Maharani College is in the news for wrong reasons one too many times. After teacher alleged of sexual harassment, snooping thief stealing girls’ undergarments at hostel, now a superintendent who is abusive and threatening.

Around 20 MBA students from the college have lodged a complaint with the State Women’s Commission alleging inappropriate behaviour of the superintendent Shivakalappa. In all his interactions with them, with regard to admissions, disbursement of scholarship and other administrative issues, Shivakalappa uses abusive language, complained students. When they resist such behaviour, he threatens them that he has all their marks cards and academic documents, the complaint says.

State Women’s Commission chairperson Nagalakshmi Bai admitted the complaint and visited the college and investigated.

Talking to Kannada Prabha she said that a discussion was held in the presence of both faculty and students. The students had a lot to complain against the administration and the staff, she said. She has written to the Commissioner of Collegiate Education and to the minister requesting to transfer the tainted superintendent.

She also visited the girls’ hostel and reported that it is in very bad shape. There is no drinking water available in the hostel and toilets are in a very bad condition. There were complaints of bed bugs and mosquito menace, she said.

Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Dr MN Ajay Nagabhushan said he has received the Women’s Commission chairperson’s letter and he would investigate and take action.
