In a shameful brazen act, Jalanagara police in Vijayapura have reduced their workplace to a bar enjoying liquor at the premises while on duty on daytime. Worse, they have made a woman police constable to 'serve' liquor for them. A video of this shameful act has gone viral causing deep embarrassment to the state police force.
Vijayapura Assistant Sub-inspector Malegaon, constables Soddi and Prakash Akki were seen gulping drinks at the parking lot of the Jalanagar police station while they were on duty. Sadly, even the woman police constable was found 'serving' drinks with chips to the policemen throwing their work integrity to wind, reports Suvarna News. It is reported that the police used the chairs that were meant for the waiting complainants at the parking lot to sit and brought tables from the station to make it look like "bar". The police have been served free food too from a nearby marriage hall, it is said.
The police force is known for its discipline but here the police personnel seemed to have cared little about it. In fact, the police rule book does not allow them to consume liquor or also smoke cigarattes while on duty. But no rule seems to apply for these policemen. Even using the woman constable has raised questions of how these policemen would ensure justice to women in distress.
The incident has not just ashamed the police force in the state but has also reflected their integrity towards their duty. Also, the three policemen including the woman constable seem to be unaware of the sanctity of their workplace. While they should be hearing out the complaints from the people, they seem to be "busy" in their own duty.
