Synopsis

Public Works Department minister HC Mahadevappa 's son Sunil Bose is being groomed as the next leader Bose has been accused of allegedly forcing a geologist to take bribe for sand mining rights Bose was one of the aspirants for the ticket during the Nanjangud by-elections

After rumours of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son Dr Yatindra to be the likely candidate from Varuna constituency, now, PWD minister HC Mahadevappa' son Sunil Bose too is expected to test political waters, this time. Minister Mahadevappa himself told the Congress party workers in T Narasipur that Sunil Bose would be contesting from the constituency in the next elections, reports Kannada Prabha quoting the sources.

"Siddaramaiah and I have the liberty to contest from anywhere in the State. So, we are contemplating to give a chance to young blood from Varuna and T Narasipur constituencies," reports Kannada Prabha. This clearly indicates that Bose could be the Congress candidate from T Narasipur constituency while Siddaramaiah's son Dr Yatindra from Varuna constituency.

But T Narasipur's next gen congress leader Sunil Bose has always courted controversies. It may be recalled here that Sunil Bose has been accused of allegedly forcing a geologist in the State Mines and Geology Department to receive a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to accord him sand mining rights. The matter is being tried in the court.

Not just that Bose was seen partying with the police personnel among them were anti-corruption bureau officials too. After the photo of their party had gone viral, two police officers - including an official from the ACB - were suspended.

Bose was also in the news for wrong reasons when he reportedly used the official vehicle of the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (Chescom) MD for his travel purpose.

Despite the controversies surrounding him, Sunil Bose was recently nominated as the chairman of the vigilance committee that oversees the implementation of housing schemes in T Narasipur constituency. Bose has also been strictly told to build his image in the constituency by attending to people, allegedly on behalf of his father.

In fact, during the Nanjangud by-elections, Bose was one of the aspirants for the ticket from Congress ticket. But, the party chose Kalale Keshvamaurthy over Bose as there were corruption charges against the latter.
