Till 7 PM, the tally of BJP in Karnataka elections was reflecting as 104 as the leading party. But suddenly there was a drop, and the total was 221 constituencies out of 222 and BJP's tally had gone down to 103. Here is why...
While counting in a centre in Hubballi Dharwad Central, the slips in VVPAT were not matching with the details in the controlling unit of the EVM. Thus, the results of the constituency are withheld. The EVM was apparently showing 207 more votes than the votes cast.
BJP candidate Jagadish Shettar was leading in the Constituency. But due to the confusion, the Election Commission has agreed to withhold the results. Further measures to be taken are yet to be announced. However, later after checking BJP's Jagadish Shettar was declared the winner and BJP is again at 104 now.
Thus, the constituency remains in question. This surely leaves us with a question if EVMs in other places were working fine?
