Journalist Gauri Lankesh shot dead at her residence

Noted journalist Gauri Lankesh has been shot dead by unidentified miscreants in her residence at RR Nagar in Bengaluru on Tuesday night.

Kengeri DCP Anucheth has confirmed the journalist's death to Suvarna News. The miscreants had fired three rounds and she was rushed to the hospital with critical wounds. However, the police have confirmed her death. It is not clear who killed the senior journalist. 

Her death is similar to the way writer and rationlist Dr MM Kalaburagi was killed at his residence in Dharwad, two years ago.

Gauri Lankesh, the daughter of well known journalist P Lankesh has been in the forefront of upholding naxal rights. She has been responsible for bringing a few naxalites into the mainstream of the society. The literary world has expressed its shock and condemned her murder.
