Synopsis

The journalist had went to cover the Tesco Techday IGNITE 2017 Shashi Tharoor MP, who was attending the event, denied to say anything on camera He also gave some instruction to his staff who called for security guards The guards assaulted the journalist and she was left with bruises and torn clothes

A reporter of Asianet Newsable was on Wednesday assaulted by security guards at TESCO in Bengaluru. She was covering an event which was attended by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.

The reporter, Roshini Jacob and the camera-person P S Roop, had reached the venue of Tesco Techday IGNITE 2017, much before Tharoor arrived. As the MP arrived, Roshini tried to get his interview which Tharoor refused.

Further, he signalled to the person who was sitting on the front seat of his car. Following this, the person in the front seat called for the guards who rushed to the spot and assaulted the reporter. They can be seen asking whether the reporter is performing some spy cam operation.

"There were seven to eight guards, and they assaulted me. I was left with torn clothes," says Roshini.

She also suffered bruises on the neck. "The burning sensation from the contusions remained for some time. A security guard named Subrath was the main person who assaulted me," says the reporter.

What is more disturbing is that Tharoor remained silent though the entire incident took place in front of his eyes after an instruction from his staff.

Roshini has filed a complaint with the Whitefield police, and a FIR had been lodged.

The security guards belong to G4S Security Services, an agency providing security services.
