IT shock to SM Krishna family: Cafe Coffee Day stores raided

In a surprise move, the Income Tax department sleuths are conducting a marathon raid at the Cafe Coffee Day stores at multiple locations across the country.  The chain of coffee stores is owned by VG Siddhartha, son-in-law of SM Krishna, who quit the Congress to join bJP in March this year.

Early reports said that the raid is underwary in at least 24 places including Mumbai, Chennai and Chikmagalur. The IT officials have swooped on the Amalgamated Bean Coffee (ABC) Trading Co Ltd, that owns the Cafe Coffee Day, in Chikmagalur. Besides, the raids are also being held at The Serai, the luxury resort in Chikamagalur owned by the ABC. Reports said that at least 10 IT officers are going through the documents. They have seized the mobile phones from the stores staff, too.
