Dear Mayor, why have Indira Canteen at park?

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Commissioner had recently issued an order that there should not be any construction work at any parks and playgrounds. The order had also specifically mentioned Indira Canteen after there were complaints that the canteen was being built in some parks.There was also public protest against constructing Indira canteens at parks. However, the officials are least concerned about the rules or public protest for Indira Canteen is being constructed at KR Road park, reports Kannada Prabha.

The locals are taking a strong objection to the construction of Indira Canteen at KR Road park. Lack of availability of sites in at least seven to eight wards has made the officials apparently take an easy way out by having the canteens inside the park. However, the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act forbids such constructions inside the parks and playgrounds. But will BBMP Commissioner initiate action against officials for violating his orders is yet to be seen.
