
Naxal activist Veeramani alias Vajramuni alias Shankar alias Eshwar (62), accused in Hebri double murder, was brought from Tamil Nadu jail and presented at the Udupi district court on Monday. This is the first time he has been produced before the court, reports Kannada Prabha.
Veeramani was accused of being the mastermind behind the killing of teacher Bhoja Shetty and his relative Suresh Shetty at Hebri, Karkala taluk, on May 16, 2008. Veeramani was a teacher at the Tamil School in Ulsoor, Bengaluru. He went absconding after the killing. But he was arrested by Tamil Nadu police on May 4, 2015, exactly seven years after the killing. He was housed in Coimbatore jail. He was brought from Coimbatore jail and produced before the court, first time after the arrest. However, he was not subjected to interrogation and the case has been posted to November 15. Soon after entering the court, Veeramani raised his hand and shouted slogans condemning imposition of Hindi in Karnataka. He also raised pro-Naxal slogans in front of the police.
