Journalist, writer Gauri Lankesh was shot dead in front of her house in Rajarajeshwari Nagar at 8 PM on Sept 5. Thousands of people paid their homage to Gauri at Samsa Open Theatre in Bengaluru The final rites will be performed according to the Veerashaiva-Lingayat tradition Here are the pictures of people having the last view of the body of Gauri Lankesh

Journalist, writer, progressive thinker Gouri Lankesh was shot dead in front of her house in Rajarajeshwari Nagar at 8 PM on September 5. The entire country has expressed shock over the murder of the journalist.

Thousands of people paid their homage to Gauri at Samsa Open Theatre in Bengaluru. Her body has been taken to Chamarajapet for the final rites. The state government has declared that the slain journalists final rites will be held with State honours.

The final rites will be performed according to the Veerashaiva-Lingayat tradition. Gauri's eyes have been donated to the Minto Hospital.

From her close associates KS Vimala to journalist Agni Sridar, actor Prakash Rai political leaders Umashree, DK Shivakumar and the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah too paid his last respects.

Gauri's mother Indira, her sister Kavitha and her daughter Isha, brother Indrajit and his family were inconsolable.
