Overflowing Varthur lake froth causes traffic chaos

Synopsis

Both Varthur and Bellandur lakes experienced frothing on March 17.  The huge amount of froth on Varthur lake took everyone by surprise.

On Friday, March 17, heavy froth from the Varthur lake overflowed and spread on the road causing traffic on the Whitefield Road connecting to HAL airport. The froth lasted for almost two hours resulting in the slowing of traffic near the Virginia Mall.

The overflow of the froth was sudden, and there was no apparent reason for the froth, the Deccan Herald quoted chief executive officer of Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority, G Vidyasagar as saying. The reason for froth is heavy rain but there was no rain that could possibly cause the frothing.

Vidyasagar expressed his surprise and stated that he will get the incident investigated. Apart from Varthur lake, Bellandur lake also witnessed some frothing.
