Parappana Agrahara Central prisons former DGP HN Satyanarayana Rao who has been accused of allegedly receiving the bribe from jailed-AIADMK leader Sasikala for extending her 'VIP' treatment in the jail is in trouble again. This time the officer has been accused of building a house violating the Coastal Regulation Zone rules near Maravanthe in Kundapur taluk, Udupi district. The Udupi deputy commissioner has been asked to initiate action against Rao.

In a letter written by the Secretary to the Department of Environment and  Ecological Sciences (on July 29) states that Rao's wife Laskhmi Rao has built the house violating the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules. Rao's house is located at Maravanthe village, survey no 142/1BP15. The house comes under the 'No building Zone' under the Coastal Regulation Zone - III norms, reports Prajavani.

It is reported that Udupi Regional (environment) director had asked Rao's wife Lakshmi - through a letter - to stop constructing the house on November 20, 2008. He had even asked Panchayat Development officer to stop the construction. "But despite the notice, Rao went ahead with the construction of the house clearly violating the norms." The Rao family has now sold the property to one Arjun Mora Soran of Mangaluru.

The letter also mentions that the issue was discussed at the District Zonal coastal committee meeting held on December 3, 2011, and found that this was a clear case of violation.  The committee had even raised the issue at the State Coastal Zone Management Authority meeting held on June 17, this year, too. The meeting had observed that the plot where Rao had built the house comes under the 'No Development Zone' under the  Coastal Regulation Zone - III hence, action should be initiated against him for violating the norms, the letter urged Udupi deputy commissioner, reports Prajavani.
