
Miscreants shot at least seven rounds of bullet at a forest officer near Anokla in Uttar Kannada district while he was patrolling in the forest. The incident occurred on August 20 when forest officer Hazrath Saba was patrolling with his team forest guards Kiran Kumar, T Rajesh Bharti, observer LKG Naik and driver Ramanatha Ganapathi Naik near Highway 63 at Sabaguli in Ankola taluk.
It is reported that they stopped for tea Sabaguli Island Hotel. After drinking tea they were proceeding towards Mastikatte and suddenly at 1.10 am miscreants fired at their jeep from the forest area. Luckily, most of the bullets hit the jeep and no one was hurt, reports Kannada Prabha.
Hazrath Saba, forest officer of Mastikatte, suspected that the attack was to kill him and demanded an inquiry into the incident. DySP Pramod Rao said a special squad has been formed to investigate into the incident and the culprits will be brought to book, soon.
