
In the high profile case of DySP M K Ganapathi’s suicide, Congress senior leader and Supreme Court advocate Kapil Sibal may the appointed the counsel for the State. The Supreme Court may hear the Ganapathi suicide case will come up for hearing on Sept 1 or 2. There is a probability that Kapil Sibal may represent the State, reported Kannada Prabha.
The case being heard by the SC may pose a threat to Minister K J George and he has requested the government to appoint an efficient advocate. Law Minister T B Jayachandra agreed to his request and accordingly assured to talk to Kapil Sibal, it is said.
The Ganapathi suicide case was investigated by CID and his family members requested for the case to be handed over to CBI. When the State Government declined the request Ganapathi’s father Kushalappa and mother Poovamma had filed a petition at the single judge bench.
The application was dismissed. They then went to divisional bench court where again it was dismissed. Ganapathis’ parents then appealed to the Supreme Court to hand over the investigation to CBI. The case will come up for hearing on Sept 1 or 2, said officials.
