Chennai-bound KSRTC bus goes up in flames

The bus had left Bengaluru and caught fire 14 kms before its destination The alert driver screamed the passengers to step out and saved them This is the second such incident on the same stretch of the road

As many as 44 passengers had a lucky escape when the Chennai-bound KSRTC bus went up in flames near Poonthamalli, Chennai on Saturday morning. According to reports, the bus was heading to Koyambedu bus terminus in Chennai and the bus caught fire 14 kilometres before reaching its destination. As the rear end of the bus caught fire, the alert driver screamed for the passengers to step out. All the passengers escaped unhurt but their luggage was charred.

Reports said that four fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire extinguishers were successful in dousing the fire in an hour. Incidentally, this is the second such incident to be reported on the same road in the past six months, reports One India.
