Can Dasara holidays come after the Dasara? Yes, it can, this year!

Synopsis

The Department of Public Education had declared Dasara holidays between Oct 11 and 25 for 15 days. However, this year the Dasara is being held between Sept 21 and 30, ahead of holidays.  Mysuru DC Randeep has written to the Education Department to change the Dasara holidays to Sept 21 to 30. The  students have to take part in Dasara sports and cultural programs. The Department has decided to change the holidays to Sept 21 to 30 applying to schools in Mysuru district only. 

The Dasara holidays in the mid term for school students that facilitated them to participate in the Nada Habba was usually during October, when the Dasara is held. The Department of Public Education had declared Dasara holidays between Oct 11 and 25 for 15 days. However, this year the Dasara is being held between Sept 21 and 30, ahead of holidays, reported Kannada Prabha.

Responding to this situation, Director of Primary Education Basavaraju said the academic time table is set in the beginning of year, and the mid term holidays are also fixed. However, it will be looked into if the mid term holidays can be changed to facilitate the students to attend Dasara.  Meanwhile, Mysuru DC Randeep has written to the Education Department to change the Dasara holidays to Sept 21 to 30 instead of Oct 11 to 25 in view of the Dasara sports and cultural programs, in which the students have to take part.

It is said that in view of DC Randeep’s letter, the Education Department has decided to change the holidays to Sept 21 to 30 only applying to schools in Mysuru district.  Order is awaited.

Public Education Department Commissioner Soujanya said that the department has not received any letter from parents to change the holidays, If a request is made, the matter will be looked into, she said.
