A BMTC bus coming from Shivajinagar and moving towards KR Market crashed into a road divider when the driver lost control on Kasturba Road on Tuesday, reports Kannada Prabha.

The bus with number plate KA 57 F 415 was going from Shivajinagar to KR Market when the incident occurred at around 11 am.  The cement divider of 2.5 feet was completely crushed due to the impact and the bus veered to the road side. Traffic was halted on Kasturba Road for half-an-hour. BMTC chairman Nagaraj Yadav who was on his way to office, saw the accident and immediately called the crane.

The usual heavy rush on Kasturba Road was fortunately less and hence it averted what could have been a major accident. The 15 passengers in the bus were also safe. However, the driver suffered a minor injury on the leg. He was rushed to a hospital. The bus has been badly damaged in the front and has been sent to the workshop with the help of a crane.

He said of late BMTC buses are involved in accidents and officers are instructed to visit the depot at night and inspect the old buses. Buses that have completed the designated run mileage will be identified and scrapped, he said. A case has been registered at the Cubban Park police station.
