Bengaluru gears up for Independence Day: Here are the security, seating details

Synopsis

Those taking part in the Independence Day programme cannot bring any arms and armaments (like knife etc), bottles or even black hankies.  

Bengaluru is gearing up for the 72nd Independence Day. The grand parade will be organised at Maneskshaw Parade Ground in the city.   

Bengaluru city commissioner Suneel Kumar and deputy commissioner Vijay Shankar briefed the media about the security arrangements made for the August 15.

Every year, tight police security is provided at vital places in the city to prevent untoward incidents. To ensure this, two additional police commissioners, nine deputy police commissioners, 16 ACPs, 46 inspectors will be on duty. A total of 1,500 police personnel will make sure that I-Day will be held in all its grandeur.

Giving further details into security aspect, the commissioner said, 9 KSRP, 5 CAR, 3 fire engines and two special teams for emergency action have been deployed.

At least 50 CCTV cameras will be installed in and around Manekshaw parade ground. People will have to pass through baggage scanners.

There are 1,200 seats reserved for VIPs, 750 seats for freedom fighters and those from the defence sector, 2,500 seats for retired army officers, and 7,000 seats for the public. Special arrangements have been made for the HIV infected, orphans and specially-abled persons.
