Bengaluru: 32-year-old doctor commits suicide over alleged dowry harassment

Synopsis

Ashwini was working as a doctor in a hospital run by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in Krishananda Nagar.

A woman doctor committed suicide in Bengaluru allegedly due to harassment for dowry by her husband. The 32-year-old Dr Ashwini took her life by hanging from the ceiling of her parents’ house in Sakamma Layout in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Ashwini was working as a doctor in a hospital run by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in Krishananda Nagar.

According to initial reports, Ashwini was living for a while in her parent's house, as she couldn't bear her husband’s torture for dowry.

She had married Dr Lohit Gowda, a doctor in the Bowring Hospital in Shivajinagar, three years ago.

The Nandini Layout police have visited the spot and have booked a case and are investigating.
