Synopsis

The polio drops were not administered to the child properly, said Pallavi Akurati, a 2009 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, in her complaint.

An IAS officer has filed a complaint against Chinmayi Hospital in Bengaluru alleging that her daughter fell sick after "expired" oral polio vaccine was administered to her child by the hospital staff.

An FIR has been filed against the hospital, Dr Suresh Kumar and a nurse at the Indiranagar Police Station.

The polio drops were not administered to the child properly, said Pallavi Akurati, a 2009 batch IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, in her complaint.

Pallavi had taken her 10-month-old daughter to CMH Hospital (Chinmayi Hospital) in Indiranagar to get her for polio vaccinated. But after the same, the child fell sick.

However, amidst rumours about virus in polio medicine, Karnataka government has clarified that there is no virus in the medicine.

The rumours were floating after Type 2 polio virus was found in polio medicine administered in Uttar Pradesh.

The medicine was produced by Biomed company based out of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. But, Karnataka government has clarified that the polio medicine being administered in the state is safe and there is no trace of any virus.
