Anandateertha Suresh of Bengaluru has been awarded the Paul Baran Young Scholar Award for 2017. The award is instituted by the prestigious Marconi Society. Anandateertha Suresh, a research scientist at Google, works on understanding the fundamental limits of information, communication, and space and their applications to fields ranging from ecology to machine learning. The award will be presented at the US on October 3, reports Kannada Prabha. Incidentally Arun Netravali, described as the Father of digital video is also selected for the Marconi Award this year.

The award carries a cash of Rs 64 lakh. It recognises a diverse group of outstanding young scientists and engineers anywhere in the world who have demonstrated exceptional capabilities and potential. The Marconi Society awards are instituted after Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi.
