One of the biggest dams in the State, Almatti Dam is filled to capacity, bringing cheers among the farmers at the Krishna basin, reports Kannada Prabha. Almatti Dam is the second dam in the State to be filled to capacity after Harangi Dam, this year. This is a cause for celebration among the farmers in north Karnataka, especially in the Krishna basin, as they face acute shortage of water.
The dam was almost full last week but releasing water into the Narayanapura Dam pushed the water level down. However, good inflow resulted in the dam filling to capacity. This time, the release of water is being done scientifically. On Tuesday, the water level at the dam was 519.60 feet. The inflow is 35,672 cusec. The dam storage at present is 123 tmc, reports Kannada Prabha.
