For many Bengaluru residents, the journey to the city's outskirts can sometimes feel longer than the actual road trip. A recent Instagram video has captured this familiar frustration after a man shared how he spent nearly an hour simply trying to get out of Bengaluru before beginning what was supposed to be a one-and-a-half-hour drive. His experience has struck a chord with social media users, with many relating to the city's notorious traffic and the challenges of planning a long drive from Bengaluru.
Taking to Instagram, a man identified as Tanay shared his experience of heading out of Bengaluru for what was supposed to be a roughly one-and-a-half-hour drive.
According to Tanay, a significant portion of his journey was spent navigating Bengaluru's traffic before he could even reach the outskirts.
The caption read: "Getting out of Bangalore is a bigger challenge."
In the video, Tanay questioned whether a long drive from Bengaluru should actually include the time spent simply leaving the city.
He said the concept of long drives had been "completely messed up" for him because of the time it took to get out of Bengaluru.
Explaining his experience, Tanay said he had planned to leave Bengaluru for a drive that would take around one-and-a-half hours.
However, he claimed that he spent nearly an hour just getting out of the city because of the traffic.
He questioned whether a long drive in Bengaluru should mean travelling from central Bengaluru to the outskirts or travelling from the outskirts to another city.
Tanay said: "The concept of long drives is completely messed up because I live in Bangalore and I was gonna get out of Bangalore for a 1.5hr drive and you know what the problem was? I spent one hour getting out of Bangalore bro."
He added: "Part of this is the long drive I don't understand. Is it me getting from the central Bangalore to the outskirts or like going from the outskirts to another city bro? I spent majority of the time just getting out of Bangalore because of the traffic dude."
Tanay's experience resonated with social media users familiar with Bengaluru's traffic, particularly during peak hours and busy weekends.
The city's heavy congestion often makes travelling towards popular destinations outside Bengaluru a time-consuming experience, with commuters spending considerable time navigating traffic before reaching the city's outskirts.
The video prompted users to share their own experiences and suggestions for avoiding Bengaluru's traffic.
One user commented: "Simple! Leave early morning or late at night. Enjoy the long DRIVE."
Another user commented: "Feel ya fam !! It's genuinely a pain in the ass."
The reactions reflect a familiar frustration among Bengaluru residents and visitors, where the journey to begin a road trip can itself become a significant part of the travel time.
For many, Tanay's experience has once again highlighted the city's ongoing traffic woes and the unique challenge of simply getting out of Bengaluru before a long drive can truly begin.
