Private complaint filed against CM Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru court over MUDA scam case

Synopsis

A private complaint has been filed against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah in a Bengaluru court, alleging involvement in the MUDA scam. The court has scheduled a hearing for tomorrow. Siddaramaiah refutes opposition claims, calling them baseless attempts to tarnish his four-decade political career.

In a significant legal development, a private complaint has been filed against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Special Court of People's Representatives in Bengaluru. The complaint, lodged by Snehamai Krishna from Mysore, was submitted through her advocate, Lakshmi Iyengar. The Special Court received the complaint after a thorough examination of its contents. The court has adjourned the proceedings for further hearing, scheduled for tomorrow.

Snehamai Krishna's filing alleges involvement in the MUDA (Mysore Urban Development Authority) scam, which has raised substantial public interest.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has responded strongly to opposition parties' attacks, asserting that their claims are an attempt to tarnish his clean political record spanning four decades. This outburst came as the Vidhan Parishad session commenced with intense opposition demands for discussions on two major scams—the MUDA land allotment scam and the Valmiki Corporation scams.

He further criticized the opposition for making personal attacks without substantial evidence. "Despite their attempts, the accusations are unfounded. They are trying to discredit me without any real content or proof."

The opposition has levelled several serious allegations, including claims of corruption involving 187 crores meant for Dalit development. They accused Siddaramaiah of misappropriating funds and highlighted alleged discrepancies in the Muda land allotment. Opposition members even chanted slogans accusing the government of diverting state money to the Telangana election.
