A 65-year-old Dutch national of Indian origin has been arrested for allegedly dispatching a suspicious parcel filled with unusual and disturbing items to the administrative office of Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. According to PTI, the accused, identified as Subhash Jai Ajeez, had sent the parcel earlier in January. Authorities discovered a toothpaste cover, decaying flower garlands, rotten tomatoes, iron scraps, and obscene photographs.

Officials launched a preliminary inquiry before formally registering a complaint on March 4. Using CCTV surveillance and local intelligence inputs, police traced Ajeez to the Madiwala area, where he was found asleep near a temple, a senior officer revealed.

During interrogation, Ajeez denied any malicious intent, claiming the parcel was part of a ritual aimed at preventing “untoward incidents” at the airport. He further told investigators that he had carried out similar acts targeting other airports as well.

Police identified Ajeez as an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholder and a retired professional who reportedly receives a monthly pension of around €2,000.

"He seemed to be mentally disturbed. He claimed he did not have any ill intention of creating any kind of trouble but only intended to ensure that no untoward incidents occur at Bengaluru airport," the officer said.

Following his arrest, Ajeez has been remanded to judicial custody. Authorities stated that further action will hinge on the findings of his medical examination.
