IPL 2017: Star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore loses 43 crore already

Synopsis

The Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited has failed to generate big moolah for the last couple of years. There has been a 46 percent rise in their loss since previous financial year.

How do you feel when you hear your favourite IPL team’s opponent is Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)? Immediately, the images of skipper Virat Kohli, the devastating Chris Gayle, the entertaining AB de Villiers and the talented Shane Watson come to your mind.

But despite having these names in their ranks, The Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited has failed to generate big moolah for the last couple of years. RCB is one side that has already incurred a loss of ₹ 43.9 crore for FY16. There has been a 46 percent rise in their loss since previous financial year and that is not good news for a star-studded like RCB.

RCB has big names in their side and they are always known for splurging at the IPL auctions. This year they have roped in Tymal Mills of England for a whopping ₹ 12 crore. They bought Mills as Mitchell Starc pulled out of IPL 2017.

It will be interesting to see how RCB manages to run its administration despite incurring such a huge amount of loss. However, Huawei, Tata Motors Bolt, Britannia, Kingfisher and 7Up have remained their sponsors for the upcoming edition of the IPL.
