What PM Modi failed to address in New Year's Eve speech

Synopsis

PM announced a couple of packages, waivers, credit limit and some good news for the rural India. The speech lacked details of demonetisation. Will the political funding be always immune to any question?

On the New Year's Eve, the most anticipated thing for the entire country was the PM Narendra Modi's speech. From hope to fear, this speech generated much emotions and delayed the celebration for many which turned out to be a budget oriented speech.

PM announced a couple of packages, waivers, credit limit and some good news for the rural India. He thanked the nation for showing support to demonetisation and made an urge to the banking system to normalise financial transaction soonest possible.

However, the speech lacked hard facts that India deserves to know after suffering from prolong inconvenience without knowing when it will end. Post demonetisation, the opposition made some serious allegations to defame the Prime Minister and after the demonetisation, this was the first time, PM Modi made an official speech to which everyone was looking forward to.

After denied information by the RBI, the people of this nation deserves to know what has been the immediate impact of the demonetisation and how will it be used for the benefit of the people of this nation.

The first question that needs to be answered is what really happened in these 50 days? PM Modi repeatedly urged at various platforms to give him 50 days time, so what really happened in the 50 days of demonetisation?

Did it help the nation and if 50 days was the limit of suffering then did the government fail to achieve it? If so, then will anyone accept the failure of 50 days and what this failure means?

Second, what is the plan with the black money? As per previous estimates only 12% of the black money is available in cash so what about is the plan the 88% of the rest of the black money? Also, how much black money has been recovered through bank deposits and how this money will be used for the benefit of India's economy? Numbers and their implications are needed to keep alive the spirit in people since cash crunch is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Third, what is the status of political funding? PM asked his party MPs and MLAs to submit their bank details so what is the status of the same. There was no clarity whether these details will be made public or not, but at least there should be some confirmation whether the details have been provided or not.

Also, for future reference, there is no discussion on my policy, ordinance, or law on political funding during this demonetisation drive. So, will political parties always remain out of legal purview in terms of funding and immune to black money related query?

After 50 days, India needs more than speeches and reassurances, and this was PM's chance for ensuring that the commoners' faith is kept alive in the system and on the demonetisation which sadly, the excellent orator missed.
