West Bengal: Crowd beats young man to death for burgling house

A young man was accused of burgling a house. According to police sources, the owner of the house raised an alarm as soon as the accused tried to flee. Hearing the shouts, people on the street chased the accused. After catching him, the crowd mercilessly beat the man. Police reached the spot and rescued the young man, but he died on the way to hospital.

Police reached the spot and rescued the severely injured man. He was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The shocking incident took place in Raipur area of Nowda Police station in Murshidabad. It was reported that a young man named Saudul, a resident of Kanpara, was accused of stealing from a man's house in the area. After the owner of the house shouted at Saudul as he was fleeing post the alleged burglary, the crowd on the street chased him.

Believing that Saudul had entered the house and committed the theft, the mob grabbed him on the street and beat him severely. The upper part of his head was crushed, and his bones and ribs were broken. After receiving the news, the officials of Nowda Police Station reached the spot. Saudul died on the way to the hospital.

Tension spread in the area soon after Saudul's death. Residents of the area became vocal about the incident. Police have begun searching for those involved in the mass lynching.
