Passengers Stranded Amidst Regional Turmoil

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 1 (ANI): Several passengers at Chennai airport have said they faced inconvenience due to constant flight disruptions and cancellations following the evolving situation in West Asia.

Passengers were seen stranded as flights to and from the West Asian region were disrupted amid heightened tension between Iran and Israel.

A Tourist's Ordeal

A tourist from Hungary said Dubai airport is closed and they have no flights available to go home. "Dubai airport is closed and we have no flights. We are now trying to change our flight tickets to another airline, like Lufthansa or some other European airline. I'm a little disappointed, but I hope we can go home soon. We came here for the puja," said the tourist from Hungary.

Conflict Sparks Global Aviation Disruption

The cancellations come amid heightened hostilities in West Asia after coordinated military strikes involving Israel and the United States targeted Iranian sites, triggering retaliatory threats and airspace shutdown in Iran, Israel, and Iraq.

The conflict has led to major disruptions in global aviation, with airlines suspending services to Gulf destinations as a precautionary measure.

Impact on Chennai Airport and Travel

Chennai airport has also seen multiple Emirates flights being grounded, leaving many passengers without options to reach Dubai and other Gulf destinations.

Stranded passengers at the airport have been scrambling to find alternative routes through European carriers, with many worried about missing their onward connections since Dubai serves as a crucial connecting point for flights to Europe and beyond.

Passengers have been advised to check their flight status before departure, with airlines stating that updates will be communicated promptly via registered contact details in the event of any impact. (ANI)
