“What If Both Lifts Stop?”: Founder Reveals What It’s Like Living On The 20th Floor (WATCH)

Founder Sakshi Sharma shared a humorous account of living on the 20th floor, describing unusual experiences such as seeing firecrackers burst below, helicopters at eye level and worrying about both lifts stopping.

Living in a high-rise apartment often comes with panoramic city views, greater privacy and a feeling of being far removed from the hustle and bustle of the streets below. However, living several floors above the ground can also bring a few unexpected experiences that people on lower floors may not relate to. From watching firecrackers burst below to hearing sounds travel upwards and imagining the ordeal of climbing dozens of flights of stairs, life on a higher floor can be both fascinating and challenging.

Founder Sakshi Sharma recently shared a humorous glimpse into her experience of living on the 20th floor of a high-rise apartment. In a video shared on social media, Sharma explained some of the unusual things she has noticed while living on a higher floor, including the surprising sounds she can hear, helicopters flying at eye level and her biggest fear, both lifts stopping at the same time.

Life On The 20th Floor

Sharma began by pointing out that living high above the ground is not necessarily as quiet as people might imagine.

“Nobody tells you how weird it is to live on a 20th floor. I thought a higher floor meant pin-drop silence, but here, you even hear the sound of every single pin dropping. Physics!” Sharma said.

She went on to describe another unusual perspective that comes with living on the 20th floor. While people on the ground may instinctively look up when they hear a firecracker exploding overhead, Sharma said residents on her floor have to look down to see it.

“When a rocket - a firecracker - bursts and the sound comes, you'd look up, right? But we have to look down. Sometimes, even helicopters fly at our eye level,” she added.

The Biggest High-Rise Nightmare

Despite the unusual views and experiences, Sharma said there is one thought that particularly worries her: what would happen if both lifts stopped working.

“But you know what is our biggest nightmare? What if both lifts stop working?” she said.

For someone living on the 20th floor, a lift breakdown could mean a long climb down and back up, making the situation considerably more difficult than it would be for residents living on lower floors.

Sharma also joked about how even birds appear to find the situation amusing.

Even birds look at us weirdly, like, ‘What are you even doing up here, humans?’
