After 6 months of complete shutdown, Bengaluru’s biggest markets are set to open on September 1. BBMP commissioner Manjunath Prasad will inspect the market area.

Bengaluru: As the lockdown norms are being slowly exculpated in Karnataka, Bengaluru’s biggest markets KR Market and the Kalasipalyam Market are set to open from September 1.

The markets were closed for purchasers ever since the first lockdown was announced, which temporarily halted the market for 6 long months.

As the Central Government has permitted states to open big markets under the Unlock 4.0 guidelines these two mega markets in Bengaluru are set to reopen.

After the Joint Commissioner, BBMP, Sarfaraz Khan inspected the market on Sunday and earlier had three meetings with the market association, it is reported that the market has been completely sanitised and is safe for both the buyers and sellers.

BBMP marshals will be deployed at the market to ensure social distancing and the implementation of wearing masks in public places.

The marshals are also strictly advised to maintain one arm social distancing. Sanitizers will be kept at entry and exit points of the market.

Last week, thousands of farmers from across the city who depend on the markets for livelihood protested seeking early opening of the market.

Sale of all kinds of products including flowers, fruits, vegetables etc will be allowed for business from September 1.

BBMP commissioner Manjunath Prasad conducted a final inspection on August 31 before the mega markets are opened to the city
