Synopsis

Six workers died, and 17 workers were injured in a boiler blast in unit five of the second thermal power station of Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL).  


Cuddalore: At least six people were killed and 17 were injured in Tamil Nadu's Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL) after a boiler exploded.  However, the bodies are yet to be taken. The injured workers have been sent to Apollo Hospital in Chennai.

According to news agency PTI, the accident was reported from the fifth unit of the thermal power station-II when workers were in the process of resuming operations in the morning.

PTI quoted an officer as saying that many workers are feared trapped. The official said that the injured have been rushed to a hospital in the state capital of Chennai.

In May, eight workers were injured in a boiler explosion at the state-run NLC plant.
