
Former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee and Professor Baishakhi Banerjee met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at a hotel in Newtown on Thursday (November 5) night.
After the meeting, Baishakhi Banerjee hinted at returning to active politics along with Sovan Chatterjee. She also claimed on social media that 'a new chapter is about to begin in Bengal politics'.

However, after joining the BJP, Shovon Chatterjee and Baishakhi Banerjee did not actively participate in any of the party meetings and functions. Despite being invited to many BJP programs, Sovan and Baishakhi did not attend due to personal reasons.
The former mayor was even invited to inaugurate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's virtual Durga puja at the EZCC in Salt Lake but he did not go to the event. On the contrary, rumors are spreading that Sovan Chatterjee and Baishakhi Banerjee might join the Trinamool party after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sent Durga puja gifts to both of them. Baishakhi also posted on social media about receiving a gift from the Chief Minister.

However, BJP leaders were always trying to make Shovon Chatterjee active in politics. On Thursday (November 6) night, Sovan and Baisakhi paid a surprise visit to Amit Shah. Both leaders discussed long pending issues. People in the pollical arena are assuming that after the meeting with Amit Shah, Sovan Chatterjee will be seen actively participating in state politics.
