Authorities on Wednesday began bulldozer operations to clear illegal encroachments for the widening and beautification of the Captain Manoj Pandey Intersection in Sitapur district.
Speaking to ANI, Executive Officer of the Municipality, Vaibhav Tripathi, said the action follows due process and prior notice to encroachers. "In honour of Captain Manoj Pandey, the District Administration had previously taken the decision to beautify this intersection. In furtherance of this initiative, a survey was conducted within a 150-meter radius surrounding the Captain Manoj Pandey Intersection; notices were subsequently issued to all individuals identified as illegal encroachers," he said.
"Following the issuance of these notices, the encroachers were accorded a proper opportunity to be heard. Any objections raised by them were resolved in strict accordance with the applicable rules and regulations. Subsequently, continuous announcements regarding this matter were made at regular intervals," Tripathi added.
He further stated that several individuals complied voluntarily after the notices and announcements. "Consequently, and following these announcements, many individuals voluntarily removed their encroachments today; for those who failed to do so, enforcement action to clear the encroachments is currently being undertaken..." he said.
In the month of January, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to take action and stated that illegal encroachment will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Chief Minister made the remarks while addressing petitions submitted by people from various districts during the 'Janata Darshan' programme in Lucknow.
CM Yogi said that strict action against land mafia and strongmen is continuing and will continue regularly. The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure a prompt and satisfactory resolution of the issues and assured the public that the government is committed to addressing their concerns. The release stated that some petitioners approached the Chief Minister to report land encroachment and assault. The Chief Minister personally met with each person, listened to their complaints, and received their applications. He then instructed officials to expedite the hearing and resolution of district-level law and revenue cases.
"Law and order are a priority for the government. Any negligence in this matter will not be tolerated." (ANI)
