RSS outfit to hoist national flag in madarsas in Rajasthan

Synopsis

The Rashtriya Muslim Manch (RMM), which is the Muslim wing of the Hindu nationalist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has announced that on August 15 as part of the Independence Day celebrations, it plans to hoist the national flag on top of 100 Muslim religious schools.

According to a Times of India report, the flag hoisting is part of RMM's national campaign to bring the Muslim religious schools into the mainstream.

Following the flag hoisting event, the RSS outfit also plans to hold lectures on nationalism and cow protection.

Salawat Khan, the national secretary of RMM, claimed that flag hoisting event would be followed by lectures on nationalism and cow protection by the chief guest.

"Cow has been a religious symbol for Hindu community. It is treated as mother. It becomes a humble duty of devout Muslims to ensure that dignity of this religious figure should be maintained at any cost," said Salawat Khan, national secretary of RMM.

The TOI report also had Khan saying:

"Prophet Mohammad has considered cow milk as most beneficial to humans and meat should not be consumed."

The move has raised eyebrows among the Muslim leaders, who have questioned their real intention. Every Urdu school and registered madrasas already have Independence day and Republic Day celebrations every year, Ameen Kaimkhany, president of Rajasthan Urdu Teachers Association said.
