Rahul Gandhi snoozes during Parliament Gujarat Dalit case debate

Synopsis

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi who has always ‘stood’ for the cause of the downtrodden, Dalits, today, was caught taking a nap during a crucial Lok Sabha debate on the recent Gujarat Dalit assault.

While the House witnessed stormy scenes over the assault on Dalits in Una by Hindu right-wing vigilantes, Rahul Gandhi chose to take a power nap.

The Congress had to swing into a defence mode as the nap, caught on camera, came as a major embarrassment for the party. The party is going all out to attack the ruling BJP.

While the party chief in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders interrupted the speech by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, the Congress vice president settled for a short nap. And to make things worse, the camera panned on him for a couple of minutes.

The vice president who is likely to be promoted as the Congress president is going to Una to meet the Dalit victims.

The Congress might come to his defence, but this is certainly not the first time that he caught sleeping during a parliament session.
