
A pressure cooker exploded inside a post-matric hostel kitchen in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur district, leaving a woman cook injured. The dramatic incident was captured on CCTV. The incident occurred at around 11 am on Monday while food was being prepared for hostel students. CCTV footage from the kitchen shows the woman cook working near a gas stove with a pan placed on one burner and a pressure cooker on the other.
The woman is seen bending down to lift or inspect the pressure cooker when it suddenly erupts in a powerful explosion. The blast shattered the cooker instantly, sending its lid hurtling through the air and striking the woman in the chest. The scorching-hot body of the cooker also caused burn injuries to one of her hands.
The woman, startled and in pain, immediately ran out of the kitchen. Moments later, she was seen pouring water over herself in an attempt to soothe the burns. The loud explosion also prompted a hostel student to rush into the kitchen and switch off the gas stove, preventing any further danger.

The injured cook, identified as Ramkanya Bai, said she was preparing dal, rice and rotis for the students when the accident occurred. According to her, the pressure cooker exploded while the dal was being cooked.
At the time of the incident, around 12 students were present in the hostel. Fortunately, none of them suffered any injuries.
Hostel student Abhishek Dabi said the students were outside having their meal when they heard the loud blast. When they entered the kitchen, they found the pressure cooker completely destroyed, its lid separated from the vessel and the gas stove damaged by the impact.
Ramkanya Bai was rushed to the district hospital for treatment following the incident.
Dr. Arun Patidar from the district hospital said the woman is receiving treatment and her condition is stable. He added that she is out of danger.
