Post-Dussehra, the Pune Airport will remain closed for 14 days from October 16 to October 29 as the Indian Air Force (IAF) will be facilitating the runway resurfacing work.

All commercial flights operating from the airport will remain suspended from October 16 to 29 due to the closure, officials said.

An announcement issued by the IAF and Pune Airport said the runway will remain completely closed for executing runway resurfacing, followed by a 12-hour closure daily from October 30 to November 30 for installation of AFLS on the runway.

The maintenance was scheduled for April but was postponed from October-November to Oct-Nov, which is likely to hit the Dussehra-Diwali holiday crowds as domestic flight operations and tourism are picking up.

Earlier, taking to its social media handle, the airport informed regarding the same. “This is to inform all passengers that as per information received from Indian Air Force (IAF), due to runway resurfacing works, all flights from Pune Airport will not operate for 14 days from 16 October 2021 to 29 October 2021," the tweet reads.

At present, flights are operating from Pune only during the day. The repair work continues at the airport every night between 8 pm and 8 am.

According to the airport director, all the night flight services, including take-offs as well as landings, have been spread out during the day. At least 10 flight services from the night hours are being scheduled in the daytime as of now.
