A policewoman from Tamil Nadu's Tirupathur district tested positive for coronavirus. Her 6-member family has been put under quarantine

Tirupathur: A policewoman in Tamil Nadu's Tirupathur district tested positive for coronavirus. According to reports, the cop was a frontline COVID-19 warrior of the district.

Following this, the Vaniyambadi Taluk Police Station has been closed.

Authorities have traced 78 contacts of the policewoman. Most of them are identified as police personnel.

The police officer’s 6-member family was also subjected to tests and put under quarantine.

Vaniyambadi had reported three cases earlier. Subsequently, the government authorities brought contacts of the three patients under quarantine at makeshift facilities.

33 new coronavirus cases were reported as of 5pm on April 23 in Tamil Nadu, according to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This brings the total reported cases of coronavirus in Tamil Nadu to 1,629. Among the total people infected as on date, 662 have recovered and 18 have passed away.
