Pakistan govt website hacked; Independence Day greetings and Indian national anthem posted

Synopsis

Anonymous hackers changed the front page of Pakistan government's official website The hackers posted Ashoka Chakra in Tricolour, along with an Indian Independence Day message and the Indian national anthem This is the second time when a Pakistan government website has been hacked in the last two months

The official website of the government of Pakistan was on Thursday, August 3, hacked by anonymous hackers.

Online pictures the hackers posted purportedly showed Indian national anthem and Independence Day greetings on the message board. The official website display of a message "Official gateway to the Pakistan government" was later restored.

The website, pakistan.gov.pk, at around 1500 hours IST displayed a message showing "Hacked by Ne0-h4ck3r".

The hackers posted Ashoka Chakra in Tricolour, along with an Indian Independence Day message.

The attack came months after a pro-Pakistan group hacked the official websites of four prominent Indian institutes, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), IIT Varanasi, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Delhi University (DU).

The group, "Pakistan Haxors Crew", said: "Nothing deleted or stolen. Just here to deliver my message to Indians."

The greetings' headline on Pakistan government’s official website read "15 August, Happy Independence Day".

The message posted after that read "Freedom in the Mind, Faith in the words...Pride in our Souls. Let's salute those great men, who made this possible".

The message was followed by the Indian national anthem "Jana Gana Mana".

This is the second time when a Pakistan government website has been hacked. Two months ago, almost thirty Pakistan government websites were hacked to avenge the death sentence given to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav on spying charges.
