Odisha Heatwave: Dozens of people dead, no relief soon

Synopsis

Odisha is reeeling under extreme heat wave conditions. So far more than 30 people have died due to rising mercury levels.

Bolangir district touched 45 degrees Celsius on 13 April. Other parts of Odisha such as Talcher, Bhawanipatna, Malkangiri and Bolangir have already touched 40 degrees.

People are remaining indoors as a precautionary measure to avoid sun strokes. The authorities have closed schools.

Met officials have said that the region is unlikely to see any relief from such extreme conditions.
