No more cash on NICE Road from Dec 1: Fastag made compulsory for vehicles to cross tollgate

Synopsis

The rule will be implemented all over the country from December 15. However, this rule is effective on NICE Road in Bengaluru from December 1.

Bengaluru: The tollgate at Nice Road will not accept any cash, but made ‘Fastag’ on vehicles compulsory form today (December 1). The Centre has also made payment at toll gates compulsory through digital means.

The rule will be implemented all over the country from December 15. However, this rule is effective on NICE Road in Bengaluru from today itself.

So far, cash was being paid at NICE Road tollgate. Currently, the eight entrances and exit at NICE tollgate have been installed with scanner and cameras.

The Fastag scanner at the entrance will scan the code and the money for the distance will be cut from the Fastag card (account) at the scanner installed at the exit.

The scanner has been installed at Hosur Road, Bannerghatta Road, Kanakapura Road, Mysore Road, Magadi Road, Tumakuru Road, Link Road and NICE Road interchange.

The Centre had directed the authorities concerned to install Fastag at all toll gates and bring the practice to effect from December 1. However as there was a shortage of Fastags, many vehicles owners are still waiting for their tags. Thus, the Centre has extended the deadline to December 15.

However, authorities claimed that NICE Road authorities have started accepting Fastag pay (through scanner) from December 1.
