The Supreme Court of justice has all eyes pinned on it, for a verdict that will decide whether women in India can hope for justice or not. It has been 5 years since Nirbhaya shook our conscience, 5 years since a young throbbing life left for the heavenly abode untimely, that too in a not-so-heavenly manner. Jyoti's urge to live and her battle for a second leash of life may have failed, but her ashes gave rise to Nirbhaya, the woman who triggered debates on women's safety and punishment for rapists.
Today, we live another day while her soul awaits the results of another battle, which she cannot afford to lose, neither can we.
