National-level netball player Shumaila Javed is the latest victim of Triple Talaq. Shumaila hails from Amroha, near Lucknow. Shumaila told a news agency that her in-laws and husband would torture her for dowry. "My husband's sister even tried to put me on fire," she alleged to a news agency.

They had even threatened her with dire consequences if she gave birth to a baby girl. Narrating her ordeal, Shumaila stated that she was thrown out of the house after she delivered a baby girl. She is now at her parents' house. She was divorced over the phone by her husband Azam Abbasi.

This seven-time champion has now urged the Central government and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath to intervene and help her. But so far, there has been no word from the Central government or UP government in this regard.

It may be recalled here, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had called for an end to the practice of triple talaq. Even Modi had termed it as 'bad social practice'. But, no action has been initiated in this regard, yet.
