Narada Sting Case: Court directs Video to be handed to a Committee

A Calcutta High Court bench has directed Narada News editor Mathew Samuel to hand over the sting video and the device used to record the video, in Delhi. The tapes showed Trinamool Congress leaders taking money from a businessman in exchange for favours.

            The bench had earlier directed Samuel to submit the tapes and device before the court here along with details of the company running Narada News, a web portal which allegedly conducted sting operations a few years back on TMC leaders and one police officer.

            Samuel, who posed as a businessman in the video, had pleaded before the court that he would hand over the tapes to any authority or person as directed by the court as he apprehended threat to his life and property in the city.

            Taking note of Samuel's apprehension about his threat to his life and property, the court directed that Samuel would hand over the original video tapes and the device to the committee members in Delhi.

            The tapes were released by Narada News about a month back. Three PILs were filed seeking action against TMC leaders who appeared in the sting video.

Meanwhile TMC has ordered an internal probe yesterday drawing much criticism from opposition CPM, Congress and BJP.
